Our methods are rooted in trans-inclusive feminist and anti-oppressive frameworks, and we seeks out the voices, opinions, and ideas of people at all levels of power to create sustainable, healthy, inclusive changes.
Though it is important to identify focus areas and break down the work into tasks and departments, it is also valuable to remember that organizations are a complex, interconnected entity with a rich history, operating within a larger environment. We help keep the big picture in mind as we move through goals, always centering an organization’s mission, vision, and goals.
Our ultimate goal is sustainability for the long haul. We work with an organization to develop systems and solutions for long-term sustainability, beyond our short-term goals.
Centering Strengths and Assets
A positive, optimistic framework promotes a sense of power and capacity that is essential to building, growing, and avoiding burnout in community-based organizations. We urge organizations to place opportunities, abundance, and passions at the center of conversations and actions. This practice is rooted in Kretzmann and McKnight’s asset-based community development theories.
Importance of Learning
While our staff have expertise in some areas, we also support an organization’s staff, board, and broader community in learning the skills necessary to perform a specific task – placing power in the hands of individuals within the organization and preparing them for long-term success.
Importance of Listening
The direct experiences and collective wisdom of the staff, clients, and communities involved with an organization are invaluable. We intentionally elicit feedback from these folks and incorporate their ideas into solutions and actions.
Bringing in more voices, people whose experiences or knowledge-base enhances an organization’s work is a priority for Vision Driven Consulting. We will draw on our vast networks of collaborators to support situations and tasks as they arise.
